day 7 kl – i didn’t skip leg day

or: omg i can no longer walk

For the past two months, I switched my workout routine to an upper body builder. It was great! No leg days!

But now I’m in Malaysia, I had to switch programs as the gym in this apartment complex is a little rudimentary. I’m on a mixed full body/running program that only uses dumbbells and a treadmill and no other equipment.

So after 8 weeks of no leg days, on Sunday I went for a treadmill hill run and on Monday I did a leg session and on Tuesday I could. not. walk.

I haven’t had DOMS this hard for years. I’ve been hobbling around Kuala Lumpur like an actual old lady! Walking down stairs, of which there are SO FUCKING MANY, I have to CLUTCH the rail and go one step at a time, wincing as I go. If normal me were walking behind current me, I would be RAGING at how slow I’m walking.

Eight weeks without leg day was a bad idea. I have regrets. I will never do it again.

(I will probably do it again.)

For my walk today, I went to Kuala Lumpur Tower because I’d read that there was an F1 merch store there. The store was not worth the walk, but the tower looks fun and I’ll go back for high tea in their fancy restaurant next week when, hopefully, the haze clears.

In the meantime, here are some other things I’ve been eating.
